Generative AI Policy
Last Hope LARP’s Stance on Generative AI in Verbal/Visual Content
Last Hope LARP does not consent to its IP being input into any LLM, image generation system, or other generative AI database. Not only does this expose Last Hope LARP content to IP theft, this risks Last Hope violating the copyright of other IPs. Please refrain from submitting stories or other content made with generative AI. It will not be approved for posting on the LH wiki or other platforms.
Last Hope LARP supports artists and creatives, and we wish to foster a healthy creative environment. We will never knowingly use generated material for content or promotion, and images that are clearly AI generated will be removed from forum and chat spaces promptly.
If you would like to improve your creative skills, please feel free to ask staff or post in the text channels. Our community is always happy to help guide our players towards tutorials, activities, organizational tools, and accessibility aids.
If you are looking for particular items or services, chances are there is a professional or hobbyist in the LARP community who has dedicated time and effort into developing the skills you are looking for and would be happy to work with you.
More than anything, we want to see and hear your authentic voices come through. Please support the arts and creative fields!
Thank you,
Last Hope LARP
Q: Why take this stance?
A: Generative AI uses prompts input by the user to then generate content based on the
patterns and structure of the training data set the system learns from. In short: AI takes an
idea and builds its response from content that already exists, usually content that has been
stolen. There is widely available research outlining why this form of generative AI as it
currently exists is harmful for the arts, human rights, and the environment. There are news
articles of AI companies admitting they cannot operate without stolen copyrighted material,
several ongoing lawsuits, and a large community of artists openly opposed to AI. We hope
that when conducting your own research, you’ll see why we’ve come to this decision.
Q: AI generated content can be very convincing. What if someone submits AI and you don’t notice?
A: Honestly, we can’t guarantee we’ll catch it every time. Many technology tools are adding
AI features. But we’ve voiced our concern, set our policy, and if someone chooses to break
it that is their decision to make. Just like many of the rules and mechanics in Last Hope
LARP, it is an honor system. In the same way that we trust our players to accurately count
their hits and track their tradeskill timers when staff aren’t present, we trust our players to
follow this policy as well, but we will do our best to watch for rule breaking.
